Nothing is constant in the Universe, except change. That is the only thing I can attest to after wandering through the first quarter century of my life. Things I thought I knew get blown away by new things I learn and when I feel like I am starting to obtain a good foundation on a subject, the floor drops out from underneath me. That is why adapting to change is critical in order not only survive, but too strive!
Today I read an article in WIRED magazine [http://www.wired.com/magazine/2009/10/ff_waronscience] about people who think that autism is being caused by vaccines. This mass of people is growing all the time, into numbers that are starting to alarm many health officials. When a certain number of people stop being vaccinated the opportunity for a virus to spread increases by a rapid rate. This group blames the “big phara” companies for withholding the truth in order to capitalize on millions of dollars of profits. Although many studies have been done to prove that there is not a link between vaccines and autism, junk science has greater power in that it is not logical.
The story made me think that you could blanket this group of people with data till you are blue in the face, but since the argument is not logical to began with, it really doesn’t matter. These people are mad about their situation and are looking for an outlet to express their rage. Reason is not the answer to the argument. It is only when they do find the true cause of autism that people will wake up from their passion binge and logic will began to seep in.
